A Competition in Support of Sustainable Development Goals
Project Challenge
Objective
How could we inspire the next generation of engineers and architects to leverage the versatility of steel in addressing global sustainability challenge?
The Solution
We launched Kreate 2024, a multi-phase competition themed “Life in Steel: Sustainable Development Goals.” This initiative was designed to:
Encourage students to explore innovative applications of steel in sustainable design
Bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical industry needs
Raise awareness about the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Implementation
Conceptual Phase: Students submitted initial designs aligning with SDGs, showcasing creative uses of steel.
Technical Analysis: Participants delved into detailed evaluations, focusing on practical applications of our TMT bars.
Physical Realization: The upcoming finale in Jalna, Maharashtra, where students will construct and present physical models of their designs.
Results
Increased engagement: A high number of registrations and submissions, indicating strong interest in sustainable design among students.
Innovation showcase: The initial rounds have yielded a diverse array of creative concepts, pushing the boundaries of steel application in sustainable structures.
Skill enhancement: Participants have demonstrated marked improvement in their technical understanding of steel properties and sustainable design principles.
Industry connection: The competition has created a valuable platform for students to interact with industry experts, including our team at Kalika Steel.
